Annual Ornament Shenanigans
I should really call this post “Delicious Shenanigans For my Mouth Hole”. Yes, the ornaments were fabulous this year..and yes, I got the halls decked in record time-and yes there were more ladies at the party than in Buckingham Palace. But…the foodage was so much fun this year. A special thanks to my professional photographer and cake pop maker extraordinaire Mrs. Bunn. Thank you ladies for hanging out with me for the evening. Until next year!…..

Starry-Eyed Surprise
I’m not sure what I’ll use these bity beauties for yet. You need some holiday cardstock, a star punch, Exacto knife, and fun embellishments for the centers. Punch out your stars in the desired patterns. Then score the stars from alcove across to the corresponding tip on each of the 5 sides. Then pinch your stars to make them 3d. So easy, and so darn cute!
Tis the Season
Homemade goodies add a personal touch this holiday season :) I’ve made 51 so far, and every snowflake is different. The pattern possibilities are endless! The tutorial I used to learn can be found at http://www.reesedixon.com/2008/12/quilled-snowflake-ornament.html

Ashley and Andrew’s wedding was absolutely gorgeous. I had a blast being a part of the wedding party as well as playing a part in planning and detail. Amazing couple!

Filigree Madness

This is my latest design for Piece a Cake. The bride’s colors are purple and red. The last step here is to specify the piping scheme. Any ideas how to seamlessly incorporate those two colors?
Chic Wedding Topper
This project is a surprise that will accompany the cake at my little brother’s wedding. Since I couldn’t find the vendor on Etsy I was looking for I decided that it would mean more if they were homemade by me. These wooden chic wedding toppers are so easy to make, and can be customized for any couple. I started by gathering all my materials.
You need: wooden figures, a pencil, sandpaper, tape, paint, brushes, toothpicks for small details, sealer, and embellishments if desired.
I started by taking a photo of my dolls and sketching out what I wanted them to look like. I’ve been harassing my future sis-in-law for the past week because I wanted to get all the little details of how she will look on their big day. Then I drew my design (in pencil) on the dolls. Next I used the sandpaper to lighten the pencil marks. (This leaves you a template that’s easy to erase if you need to later.) I then started applying the major paint colors in coats of three. I taped off areas that needed to be precise. Next I added eyes, smiles, etc. Once all your painted/drawn features are dry you can clear coat. I used a product called “Triple Thick”. It worked really well. This clear coat will protect your toppers and keep them from yellowing as they age. After the clear coat was dry, I added the veil, dress trim, jewelry, and flowers to the bride. My brother, ahem…the groom, got a belt and his red tie. I still have to add the hammer hook and brass brads to his Carhart jeans. I’ll save that for tomorrow. After the wedding, I’ll add pictures of the toppers on the cake! I love these!

Summer Sunshine Soiree
I have to first thank Pamela Bunn for taking such fun and vibrant photos and making this collage for me! This shower was so much fun! The yellow theme carried throughout, and the lemon cake was a hit. “LemoNaughty” and “LemoNice” were our signature cocktails. Vegetarian hor d’oeuvres were the perfect munchies for this 2pm-5pm shower. The yellow paper poms, garlands, shabby chic frames, table runners, cloth napkins, flower arrangments, candy bar, and throw pillows really brought the Sunshine theme to life. I transformed our man cave into a photo booth complete with summer props, mood music, and a real live awesome photographer! I also set up a scrapbooking station where each guest made the bride to be a page for a scrapbook which will hold the photo booth photos. As an extra special touch, I redecorated my guest bathroom to reinforce the yellow elements. I can’t wait to plan my next event! *Special Thank You to Whitney Underwood for providing such a lovely vegetarian spread!
